Dene Nahjo Hide Camp in partnership with Dehcho First Nations and Łı́ı́dlı̨́ı̨́ Kų́ę́ First Nation

Dene Nahjo is delivering a Hide Camp Mentorship Program in partnership with Dehcho First Nations and Łı́ı́dlı̨́ı̨́ Kų́ę́ First Nation August 22 - September 5, 2021. The Camp will take place near Łı́ı́dlı̨́ı̨́ Kų́ę́.

Dene Nahjo is an Indigenous innovation and arts collective that has been organizing and delivering hide tanning programs since 2014. Dene Nahjo’s Urban Hide Camp has been delivered annually since 2016, and the feedback from participants in the Urban Hide Camp led to the creation of the Hide Camp Mentorship Program.

The Hide Camp Mentorship Program was developed in response to feedback from hide tanners who requested a more immersive land-based experience where hide tanners can learn hide tanning techniques, cultural teachings, harvest materials, and be together on the land.

The Hide Camp will be open to the public. Covid-19 protocols will be in place and in line with current recommendations from the NWT Chief Public Health Office. If you are planning to attend the Camp, please register in advance here.
